Trivia Question❓

Which president declared Thanksgiving a national holiday in the United States?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Louisville ushers in the season with a stunning 35-foot Norway Spruce now gracing Jefferson Square Park.

Generously donated by the Russell family of Pleasure Ridge Park, the tree was carefully selected and installed by the city's Urban Forestry team.

This towering symbol of the holidays marks the countdown to the beloved Light Up Louisville celebration on Saturday, December 6, running from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. in downtown.

The event transforms the area into a festive retreat, offering live entertainment, the sparkling Lots of Lights Parade, and the magical tree lighting ceremony.

Families can explore the Mistletoe Market, feast at Frosty's Food Court, and take free photos with Santa Claus.

New features include a dramatic video-mapping show on Metro Hall and a must-see drone display.

Louisville’s Christmas tree now stands as a bright invitation for everyone to celebrate, connect, and make holiday memories downtown.

Louisville residents can now apply for the LIHEAP Fall Subsidy to help with heating costs this winter.

Applications are open from November 3 to December 12, 2025, or until funds run out.

Eligible households earning 150% or less of the Federal Poverty Guidelines may qualify for one-time financial support.

The program covers a range of heating sources, including electricity, gas, propane, coal, wood, and fuel oil.

Payments are sent directly to the energy provider, and you do not need a disconnect notice or overdue bill to apply.

Previous LIHEAP aid does not impact eligibility for this subsidy.

Applications are first-come, first-served, so act quickly by calling 502-991-8391 or using the online scheduler.

For questions, contact Metro311 by dialing 311 or 574-5000.

Stay prepared and keep your family warm this season.
