LMPD's Second Division Hosts Heartwarming 'Shop with a Cop' Event |
Over 55 Louisville Children Experience a Joyous Holiday Shopping Spree |
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Second Division recently hosted its annual 'Shop with a Cop' event, bringing holiday cheer to over 55 local children.
Thanks to the generous support of the Louisville Metro Police Foundation, Walmart, and numerous community partners, these children enjoyed a Christmas they might not have otherwise experienced.
The event took place at the Walmart on Outer Loop, where each child was paired with an officer to select gifts.
Major Russell Miller of the Second Division shared his enthusiasm, noting the joy on the children's faces as they realized the extent of their shopping spree.
He emphasized the importance of building positive relationships between officers and the community.
Each child received approximately $400 to spend, allowing them to choose a variety of items, from toys and games to clothing and essentials.
The event not only provided gifts but also fostered meaningful connections between the officers and the children.
Reflecting on the day, Major Miller stated, "It's just a really exciting thing to be able to do to see as they are checking out and through the line what all they get, how much they get, and how happy they are."
This initiative underscores the commitment of the LMPD to community engagement and support, highlighting the true spirit of the season.
As the holidays approach, events like 'Shop with a Cop' remind us of the power of community and the importance of coming together to support one another. |
