Annual event provides thousands of turkeys to local residents in need |
The D'Angelo Russell Foundation recently hosted its third annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive at the Goodwill West Louisville Opportunity Center, distributing over 4,200 turkeys to families in need.
Since its inception, the event has grown significantly, starting with 100 turkeys in its first year to over 4,200 this year.
"We are from this area, which motivated a lot of our efforts and our work," said Antonio Russell, the foundation's vice president.
The event also featured face painting, free coffee, food, and a DJ, creating a festive atmosphere for attendees.
Community partners such as Prayer Changes Things, Kroger, and the Dallas Mavericks contributed to the success of the event.
In addition to the turkey drive, the Goodwill West Louisville Opportunity Center has been a hub for community events, including the recent Community Violence Prevention Discussion and the upcoming Fathers United Against Community Violence Summit scheduled for December 19, 2025.
The D'Angelo Russell Foundation's commitment to giving back continues to make a significant impact on the West Louisville community. |
