Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue Urgently Seeks New Home Amid Impending Eviction

Crestwood-based animal rescue faces closure without community support

Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue, a cornerstone of animal welfare in Crestwood, Kentucky, is confronting a critical challenge: the imminent loss of its primary facility.

Over the past decade, this dedicated organization has successfully placed more than 7,000 animals into loving homes.

However, the rescue has been notified that it must vacate its current location at 5915 W State Highway 22 by December 31, 2025.

This unexpected development jeopardizes the future of countless animals relying on their services.

Diane Ernst, the animal care director, expressed the gravity of the situation: "We are in a crisis situation. We were just notified that we will be losing our biggest space here at the adoption center at the end of the year."

The facility currently accommodates over 300 puppies annually, contributing to a total of 600 animal adoptions each year.

Without a new location, these operations could come to a halt.

The organization is urgently seeking a new facility between 4,000 and 6,000 square feet within Oldham County or nearby areas.

Megan Mickus, the K9 manager, highlighted the potential impact: "If we don't have a building to put these dogs in, then we rely on fosters alone, and we just won't be able to adopt the amount of animals that we have over the last several years."

The nonprofit is appealing to the community for assistance, both in terms of pet rescue donations and leads on available properties.

Ernst emphasized, "We are asking our community to help us. We are in a time of need. We need to know if you can help us with finding a new building."

Without securing a new location in the next two months, the rescue may have to cease intake of animals altogether.

Community members interested in supporting can contribute through the organization's donation platform.

Every contribution brings them closer to continuing their mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need.
